<< Steve,
I have a son in Preschool who tried to attempt the same thing (putting a
square object into a round hole). After trying many times he finally
realized that only the round object will fit in the round hole.
Geez, don't you remember your early schooling days?

Hey Brian!
Yeah, I do remember that class now that you brought it up...I guess what
I was thinking about with this diode deal, was what I learned later on...in
junior high or high school I think, which was: "Anything will fit if you push
hard enough"...and that applies to a lot of things, not just square pegs and
round holes....hehehe

P.S.
By the way, thanks everybody...I was able to take care of damn dumb diode. The
fix was pretty simple, logical actually. It was suggested by a ol' crusty
techie to get a solder tailed pin receptical (Mill-Max was the source for
that), wave that, then put the diode in...piece o' cake! I was wondering, when
someone helps you out and gives you a real simple fix like that, do you ever
feel kinda dumb? Like; why didn't I think of that? There was a little
disapointment though, after reading Paul's suggestion, I was kinda' looking
forward to sitting down and; quoteth Paul: "Take a just undersized needle,
plunge it half way in and GENTLY vigle it in full circle (a knob on the end of
helps, without going to details)" B^}
