The layout you have suggested is perfectly ok if you intend to glue dot the
1206s.
However if you want to wave solder the PTH and reflow the 1206s by using an
exclusion fixture you will need to leave some clearance around the PTH
(Approx. 3-5mm .12"-.2").
The clearance required is dependent on
1. The height of the SMT component to be protected
2. Whether the SMT components are in front or to the side
3. The need for bridges to support the masking
We (Datum Dynamics) design and manufacture exclusion fixtures and I am
currently writing a paper which lays out design rules for PCB designers.
I you want, you could send me the Gerbers which I will mark up with
suggestions for movement of components to allow selective wave soldering.
