Hot bar is a good process for TAB as it ensures all the leads
are in contact with the PCB. Things to consider are how are you
going to get the right amount of solder to the joints and how to keep
the thermode clean. Cleanliness is important for the life of the
thermode and you will find they are not cheap items. Thermode
cost and thermode life are usually a trade off.

     Good luck!

Hello everyone,

Who out there knows anything about hot bar soldering?? We are
considering using an LCD with a TAB driver that requires hot bar
soldering to the PCB. The problem is I have no experience with this
process - can anyone please explain to me what is involved, and what
the pros and cons of using such a process are?

Thanks very much.

Regards,
