Two years back I investigated use of DBT foil with a reflective system AOI
(Orbot 1132 unit). Our core laminate supplier used 2 or 3 foil vendors which
varied greatly in appearance from orange - copper colored to olive green. We
were able to set up the AOI to easily run the orange colored copper DBT foil
but not olive green foil...as you said not enough contrast between laminate
and foil. We recently purchased a 1411 reflective AOI unit and were informed
it would be capable of inspecting DBT foil only if the foil treatment was
highly consistent. We have not tried running DBT yet and have no info. with
this new AOI unit.
The contact @ Orbotech that I worked w/ on this matter was Dave Fisher.
