Hi Jan,

As far as I know DST-foil is rough and has variations in color on the outside.
This can cause the system to think there is dishdowns and other types of
defects since it is only looking at the foil. I worked for Orbotech for 8 years
and only on the non-reflective systems so I am really not experienced in the
1450 applications. I am sure a V206 or a V309 would run this product without
any problems since it only looks at the resin and does not care about
variations in the color or texture of the copper surface. I would also call
Orbotech to help get a better answer at 1-800-800-3208

Dear Technetters,
is it possible to use reflective AOI on DST-foil ?

I have tried to run some tests on DST-foil. It worked very well except for AOI.
Approx. 50 - 200 false defects pr. board after optimisation !
It must be due to the (lack of) contrast between the DST-cupperfoil and the
resin.

This amount of defects is unacceptable for AOI-test.
An acceptable level would be max. 5-10 pr. board, preferably none.

The equipment used is a PC-1450 from Orbotech.

Any comments would be very welcome.

With best regards

Jan Thuesen
