If the cover is about 8 x 10 inches, probably a 1 or 2 inch hole would still
provide adequate shielding (just my opinion).

You might find more information on the Arizona ESD Assoc. website
(www.esdres.com/azesd) or at their upcoming conference and vendor fair
(free!) on July 22 at the Mesa Community Ctr., 201 N. Center St., Mesa, AZ.
 - tel. 602-357-2460. (Maybe you could present your question to their
experts during one of the ESD panel discussions.)

Good Luck!

Subject: [TN] ESD Faraday shielding

Technetters, please help.

I am studying a lid design for an ESD container to provide a
Faraday shield for printed wiring assemblies. There needs to be
a hole or notch in the conductive lid so that it can be grasped
and removed. What are the guidelines for the maximum size of
the hole so that adequate shielding is maintained?

If you don't have an answer or opinion, are there recommended
container suppliers, organizations, or other sources that could
also be contacted for advice?

Thanks in advance for any help.
