Legibility of the schematic is the key. Standard libraries for Pads have tenth inch
text height. This includes lower case decenders (i.e. ":g" , "j" etc.) so that full size printout
results in upper case letters being about 0.07 high. This size is too big for "A" and "B" size
formats and too small for "C" and "D" size formats.
A work-around that I've found successful is to generate schematics on a 2/3 reduced "D" format.
This gives you the working area of approximately a "C"size sheet. In most cases we print to a
"B" size laser copier during development and "print-to-fit". Legibility is great! When the schematic
is released to production, we send it to a HP Designjet with a scale factor of 3/2. This gives us a
full size "D" schematic that has true default text size of 0.120 inchs, thus meeting legibility
requirements for microfilming.
