I would like to see the forum a free for all.

I routinely delete most of the messages before reading anyway. Archive
searches
are usually quicker and better.

If a supplier has a better mousetrap, OK, but let's see the data.
Experimental
design and results or proof of stability/capability for equipment or
processes.

Otherwise it's just a bunch of opinions and that is the problem, correct?

Hi Techies,

As a supplier to the industry I read and respond to Technet discussions
regularly, if I have something of value to add. I do, from time to time,
provide something-or-other that another technetter asks for a source. Many
times I feel very hesitant to respond online so I DO direct e-mail that
person, but occasionally I might send a "if interested, please respond
directly to...." through the Technet forum, and 'lo and behold, some
"lurker" (I mean that in the nicest way) will call and inquire about some
whiz-bang they need.

My suggestion is, why not set up a "boilerplate form" for us lowly suppliers

to use when responding so everyone can see it, but not violate Technet
etiquite. It would simplify the administrations job of discriminating the
"advertisment" from the "legit response". Use of the form is ok, but
anything other than that gets a nastygram and a copy of the form. Therr
strikes you're out.

Whacha think?

BTW... "lurker" is net-slang for someone who reads dialog of others, but
rarely (if ever) joins in.
