John,
I can tell you that my customers love it because of the fact that they don't
have to microetch before photo resist lamination.  Just a run through an
acidic chromate remover/cleaner that removes fingerprints, rinse, and dry.

Microetching is great for resist adhesion.  Yet, if you can do without the
extra process to control, the expense of the chemistry and waste treatment,
and so forth, then you're money ahead.

When my largest customer removed their microetch, they decreased their line by
6 feet, and decreased their preclean costs by 82%.  So, if you're going to
look at the additional cost of DSTF, be sure to look at all the other
variables.
