Paul,
I thinkyou need to 'fess up and bite the bullet on this one. The board that
you're trying to repair is most likely a multi layer board. While you might
be able to reconstruct the surface traces there is no way to reconnect the
inner layers unless you can get a copy of the artwork of the board. This is
extremely unlikely.
If you were able to snap a PC board in half inside a VCR, you've done more
damage than you think.

PS - That must be some VCR for $1400 bucks, for less than $500 bucks you can
get one heck of a good VCR at most local electronics stores.
