I've been using Cadence for 6 years for pcb design and would not recommend
it to anyone unless you have a staff to support you.  On the schematic side,
library maintenance is terrible, and the interface to allegro is poor.
Allegro does the job, but not as friendly as many other packages.  I'd give
Pads a strong serious look.
