The system I use is based on the company's drawing system. We have 'M'
drawings for bought components, and 'FM' drawings for assemblies. So a
typical PCB would have the drawing number M100001A, and the PCB assembly
would be FM100002A. For each layer we take the numeric part of the drawing
and add a 2 digit code so the top conductor would be 100001W1 (the filename
for the gerber would be the same), bottom conductor W2 and so on. L1 & L2
for legend, S1 & S2 for solder resist, P1 & P2 for solder paste. The set of
files would then be compressed and have a filename like 100001I1.zip where
I1 is the issue number.
