process. Denny Fritz of Macdermid, Waterbury, Connecticut, claims to have a
system capable of 2/2 with new transport and alkaline etchant with 90+%
yields: sounds a little too good to be true. Maybe there's a customer who
can confirm?

Paul !
I met Danny Fritz of Macdermid in the past . I don`t know , what kind of
equipment they have now . Macdermid become to be supplier of the equipment
following their joint venture with Hollmuller on US market . Couple years
ago Hollmuller was recognised as first class manufacturer of equipment ,
equal to Schmid .
Later on , Macdermid took the part of Hollmuller and now they are competing
, even on europiean market .
Schmid is now the lonely leader , but their prices are very high !!
By the way , to make 2/2 conductors , etching is just the end of the chain .
What about image transfer , plating ( for tend and etch or pattern plating +
plating resist stripping ! )
I had such discussion with my boss regarding warranty conditions for such
equipment : I told , that we are buying pile of plastics , shafts and
electricity wires . I don`t know , what kind of " net " performance tests
might be imposed on the manufactorer of the machinery ...
For outerlayers nothing special is required from transportation system ,
because outerlayers are self-supported . Rest of the stuff is mixed
chemistry and machinery :
1 ) proper and controlable spray profile , especially top manifolds .
2 ) properly chosen chemistry ( rather low and fixed pH , stable chlorides ,
adequate aeration etc ) .
3 ) Untill now no one of Pill`s users responded ... Their machinery looks
very nice and have reasonable price .
I hope You got some idea about my decision making . By the way , we are
manufacturing from time to time 2 mills wide conductors or even less , but
not on purpose ( on the artwork they were 5 )
Edward
