                    DFM - Is it Working?

The Greater Boston Chapter of the IPC Designer's Council
is holding its next meeting on Tuesday, May 5th, at 6pm.

This month will be a joint meeting with the local chapter
of the SMTA, in the form of a panel discussion on Design,
        Fabrication, and Assembly.

        Moderator:
Hal Winslow, Sr Manufacturing Engineer, Cadent Medical
            Vice President, SMTA Boston Chapter

        Panelists:
        Design:
Jeff Seeger, President, Applied CAD Knowledge Inc
President, Greater Boston IPC Designer Council
        Fabrication:
Norm Einarson, Principal, Printed Circuit Technology
Lead Technical Advisor, Greater Boston IPC Council
        Assembly:
            Louis Feinstein, Manufacturing Engineering Manager,
            Artesin Technology

After a brief introduction for both the SMTA and IPCDC
groups, panelists will bring out a few issues of current
interest for advice and resolution, including materials,
        surface finishes, footprints, and more.

Attendees should bring their current problems and ques-
tions for discussion and crossfire review.

As we all know, one of almost _anything_ can be built.
But the ultimate cost and even the success of a product
are framed very early in the process. Contending with
today's electronics without building in compound misery
requires a concerted effort. Add your voice to the choir!

The meeting will be held at the Lockheed/Loral facility
in Lexington MA. Pizza ($5) at 6pm, Panel at 7pm. This
facility is located off of route 128 at the route 2A/Lex-
ington exit (#30B). Proceed West 200 yards from route 128,
Left into an industrial park. The meeting is in the first
        building on the left.

Due to expected turnout, please RSVP if coming for pizza.
Send an email with only a "Subject: RSVP" before noon on
Tuesday the 5th, to [log in to unmask]

Note SMTA members should respond to that group in your
usual fashion, please do not rsvp to both organizations!
