Can somebody help me how to specify solder balls criteria in our internal
standards?
I know IPC requirements: not more than 0.005" in diameter and not more than
5 solder balls per sq.in.
We do have some solder balls due to No clean environment and VOC flux.
Usually the solder balls are within specs, but we have randomly a larger
solder balls which are violating IPC rules.
The inspector has only maglight available at the inspection workstation.
We have LSM where we can measure the solder balls diameter. The LSM is not
on line . We don't want in-line inspector run all shifts around and measure
the balls.
Could somebody recommend me how should I specify solder balls criteria for
the inspectors?
Thank you, Stella Neyman
