This would be more of a segmented pad see below

        |_|     |__| |__| |__|  Sorry for the crude drawing imaging that the top is
like the bottom and closed with the spaces between the larger land broken
up so that the shorter part does not draw the part away from the lead pad.

Hope this sort of explains what I meant.
