1. Mil-F-14256 on fluxes was cancelled, and the IPC's J-STD-004 was adopted for
fluxes. All fluxes can be characterized per this document. J-STD-004 is called out
as the material specification in IPC's soldering standard J-STD-001. I am not
familiar with Def Stan 34-4 so I can't comment on this one.

2. EMPF in Indianapolis did some significant work proving that companies could
successfully use low residue fluxes and subsequently conformal coat. Specifications
are being changed to make these allowances.

3. Can't help on this one.

     Hello Technetters

     I have three questions

     1. Which specification are no clean fluxes released to. Do they
conform to Def Stan 34-4.? ( I know its not been issued other than in
draft form but it gets called up in our work)

     2. Has anyone any information on conformal coating over no-clean flux.
Compatability or long term reliability issues ?

     3. How are others going to overcome the new restrictions on rosin flux
fume ? Are you using extraction or changing fluxes ??

     Any response greatfully received

     Thanks

     Chris Evans
