Dave,
 The InterRoute Gold and a auto-router are two different animals.

The InterRoute Gold is a manual routing assitant. It has tools whose goal
is to make manual routing easier for you.

  You need to test drive the InterRoute Gold to see if the features justify
the price.  I felt the tool has some maturing to go for the price being
asked.  I would be happy to go into this with you off line if you wish.
