ENID,
You may be able to clean and brush plate, depending upon the quantity. Another
thought is buss the fingers at the top (using wire, or possibly a conductive pen)
and replate gold over the nickel/gold. Be careful to prepare the surface properly,
no sense in trading your existing problem for a new one.
If you can obtain the connector specification, you may be able to determine if
the area in the bottom is used or not. If not, they may be salvageable as is (yuck,
I hated to say that). If all else fails, use a yellow magic marker(JUST KIDDING!!)
Are you the end user or the manufacturer? If you are the end user, your vendor owns
the problem. If you are the manufacturer, consider cleaning, bussing, and gold
plating the entire connector. How many panels and what percentage of the panel is
effected. AS important, has the issue been addressed? JOHN
