My experience has been that if the anode bag is too short or is pulled up
too tight against the bottom of the anode or basket, the solution in the
bottom of the bag becomes super saturated and salts out. This will inhibit
further corrosion at the bottom of the anode, leaving a dog-bone shaped
anode and it also reduces the effective length of the anode causing
underplating near the bottom of the plating rack. Bags should generally
have a few inches of empty space beyond the end of the anode. A napped
anode bag or one that has too tight of a weave can also cause the super
saturation and salting out.

Has anyone ever experienced a problem of copper sulfate crystals
developing on the bottom of anodes inside the anode bags? If so, what
causes it and how do you get rid of it.

        thanks,
