I have also participated in mass addition of wires to fix design issues,
without impact to reliability.  But the two cents I want to add is that
it's OK to do a jumper as a repair for a damaged trace IF you know why
the trace is damaged (e.g.. physical damage).  If you blindly add
jumpers to fix mystery opens in a board then you may be sending walking
wounded out to the field to die later.

As always: opinions are my own, mileage may vary; contents are hot, not
suitable for small children...
