It is sometimes hard to get designers to do what you want.  You might want
to try GC-CAM from GraphiCode http://www.graphicode.com. It has one of the
better Gerber readers.  Or you can get the GerbIn Gerber translator tool
from Unicam http://www.unicam.com.
