Hi Ed
I used ceramic chip caps on G10 RF boards starting in 1969.  WE arranged them
around terminals that were mounted in pc pads.  The other end of the chip were
grounded to the ground plane.  We hand soldered the parts.  At the time the
manufacturer wasn't sure the parts would stand up to the soldering method and
in the early years we did get a lot of breakage.  Our newer products use
"real" surface mount techniques.  Does anyone have an older application?
