Paul, I'd say given the rotary nature of application you can really
speed up the life test quite easily with a motor and counter , just
watch the friction temp . The possible oxide consideration (build up
between cycles on nickel) is not so pronounced on rotary (or slide)
application .
Therefore you can test any surface sample you desire , the flash gold
does vary from manufacturer to manufacturer .
For that reason alone standardised specs would not supersede life test .
Give it a shoot (test) , we get good yields from NiAu on switching
(carbon pads, touch&skid)
