To all Technetters,
I am undergoing a chain of change within my manufacturing operations due to
corporate driven initiatives. The changes are mostly directed at
productivity improvements, inventory (raw material, work-in-process,
finished goods) reduction and operator efficiency, while maintaining a high
level of quality.
My question is, "What are the justifications for the J-STD-001 requirements
regarding Facilities, Environmental Controls, and Temperature/Humidity?"
One of the options being discussed is the decentralization of our current
electronics manufacturing (PCB assembly and cable fabrication) operations.
The decentralization will locate the electronics assembly operations with
final product assembly operations. The final assembly area does not
currently have any provisions for environmental controls.
Keeping in mind the question posed above, I then ask, "How can I justify
the need for the necessary controls at each final assembly area where
electronics assemblies will be processed?" Remember common sense is not
common place and any and all comments are much appreciated. Thank you in
advance.
