What temperture is the micro-etch solotion operating at? Did the solution
overheat at anytime? The residue could indicate a breakdown of the
stabilizer. Is the residue soluble in any kind of solvent?(alcohol etc)
Try and retrieve some of the residue and run an IR scan to try and
determine what the compund might be.
