Hi Anthony,
I've don't know the exact reasoning behind it, but in all the gerber
files I've seen, the component coordinates are to pin-1. If the design file
had the coordinates go to the centroid, I know there would be a lot of "happy
campers" out there! That would save another complete operation generating a
CAD placement program...it would seem to me that the centroid location makes
the most sense if there isn't any other reason why everybody uses pin-1. Maybe
it's because that's the way everybody has been doing it over the
years...kinda' dumb reason, but most of us are sheep anyway (GRIN)....B-a-a-a-
a-a-a!
