I work for ETS (manufacturer of ovens and profilers). In the past we used to
create our own thermocouples by twisting the wires and glueing them to the
board. It works well (very accurate) but ruins the board used for testing.

Recently we were made aware of Saunders Technology and after testing the
Temprobe we found it to be nearly as accurate but did not ruin the board.
Often our customers want us to ship them a plug and play oven which requires
them to send us a sample board. We used to have some pretty ticked off
customers when we sent back a board that used to be worth $500 - $600
dollars that is now worthless. The Temprobe has made it possible for us to
profile without damaging the sample. This makes the Temprobe well worth the
investment. Plus they are quick and easy to use as Steve mentioned.

You should talk to Roger Saunders, his e-mail is [log in to unmask] or call
him at 603-881-3330.

> There's a company named Saunders Technology that sells thermocouples
>called "Temprobes". They are thermocouples that have a stainless steel type of
>"body" if you will, and sort of clip attachment system that you can clip to a
>no-populated edge of your PCB, and then position the tip where you need to
>measure. There have been tests done that have shown that these thermocouples
