Castellations are those little rectangular insets on the periphery of
ceramic packages which are metallized. They look like the positions up on
the top of the castle keeps where the archers stood in days of yore, I
guess - thus the name.

Normally you see them on ceramic LCC "leadless" packages. Not so common
these days...(either the castle or the LCC).

Amazing what you can learn watching Monty Python.
