To Tony Bugeja
There is so much you haven't told us! But...
GOLD: Yes the gold can become the dross. Very
messy-comtaminating the solder pot. One must
contantly monitor the solder bath.
SILVER: First of all why are you still using an RMA
flux? Isn't the industry leaning toward NO CLEAN.
The tarnishing issue: I would first monitor the temp
of the solder bath. It may be too hot! We have used
silver leaded headers and not seen a problem with
tarnishing. The acid in the flux may be attacking the
silver. We have seen tarnished leads from the field-due
to contamination. Our fix was to encourage the customer
to coat the leads(posts) with a Nyogel Lubricant.
Good luck
