We are in discussions about using a Corporate Geometry Naming Convention
and I would be grateful if you could answer some questions on the IPC
Standard.
1/ Does the standard IPC-SM-782 take into account the physical size of
geometries (i.e height) or is it only for the footprints.
2/ What kind of naming convention does it use.
3/ I read in some newsgroups something about a program which you can use
to calculate tolerances and Land Fills, could you tell me more about
this.
4/ Our boardstations are three dimensional and the naming convention we
use just now describes the geometry i.e. dip_16_300. How would the IPC
Standard fit in with this. Would all our existing geometries need to be
archived.
5/ Do you know of any Naming Convention for Through Hole Geometries.
Hope you can answer some of my questions or steer me in the right
direction.
Thanks
John McAllister
