Hi Charlie,
As a matter of fact I have come up with a way to slot a plated thru hole without burrs. I came up with it when trying to figure out how to have plated thru edge slots without burring during rout. Simply rout the slot after electroless before image. I'm probably not the first to come up with this idea since it is ends up to be basic common since. You also need to add a clearance in the slot area on your primary artwork or you may end up with resist flakes from tenting the slot. Hope this helps.
