Bob: Instead of trying to overcoat the serial # which adds another level
of operation to the process, find a better stamping ink. There are a couple that
we have used with good results over many years. They are processed thru a variety
of assembly flux/solder/clean operations. These include aqueuos and rosin
fluxes, IR and VP reflow, flowsolder and cleaning using high pH saponified
aqueous and aliphatic hydrocarbon chemistries.
