Hello All,

I'm trying to find out how difficult it is to create IPC-D-356 netlist
files from the major PWB design software packages (i.e.; Protel, Pads,
PCad, etc.). I work for a contract PWB assembly company and am trying to
get all of my Surface Mount Machine Programming done off-line. The CAM
software I use can take the IPC 356 files and basically give me all the
placement data I need quickly and easily. However, most of our customers
don't send us this file when we get their CAD and Gerber files(even
though we request it specifically). Since I'm not a designer I'm not
sure what is involved. I know CAM350 can export this type of file when
your given a netlist or CAD data. Are there any other software packages
like CAM350 on the market. Any insight would be appreciated.

Also, I have heard that IPC is standardizing a neutral CAD format (or
GenCad) that most design packages can export. Can anyone give me more
information on this.

Thanks in advance,

Tim Stammely
