I couldn't agree less! I worked for 20 years on the inside and now 10 on the
outside. I've learned one heck of a lot more in the last ten than I did in the
first 20 so I believe, that while engineers on the inside have valuable
inputs, the experience gained on the outside gives a much broader perspective
and a wider range of both problems and solutions. By the way, I'm not a
consultant but I fail to understand how one could make any money as a
consultant sitting in his/her office.
