Do you really need a separate machine? You may find that your existing
punch has plenty of hydraulic capacity to poke through .059". You would,
however, need a separate set of punch blocks with a larger clearance
between punch and die (still an order of magnitude cheaper than a whole new
machine). To avoid hydraulic 'spikes' on thicker materials, Multiline
[used to ] recommend a "firing order" for the punches, where each punch
would be a slightly different length (a few mils) so they don't impact the
material at exactly the same time. Anyway, if an available machine doesn't
turn up here, you might check one of the 3 or 4 used equip. dealers found
in the back of our industry mags.

Subject: [TN] Punch needed

I am in the market for a used Multiline innerlayer punch capable of
punching the standard multiline 4 slot system in thick cores up to .059. I
already have the Multline punch for thin cores. I should point out that I
am not interested in the post etch punch. We still punch our cores after
coating. Can anyone help.
