Just a few additions to Ed's thought...

Ditto, Is this a way of verifying the gerber data you gave them is correct?

Big Ditto! I can see your situation, F you happen to be working with multiple vendors whom
you're not completely satisfied with, OR you have no idea who might be making your boards,
but hopefully you know whom you're dealing and know what they CAN do with your data.
If not... GET INVOLVED. I have worked with numerous board houses, and have always
defined MY OWN minimal fabrication requirements (plus calling out the IPC-RB-276 spec as
the general requirement), and have had GREAT success.

I'm not saying not to do it your way, but how much of what you currently call out on the
drawing(s) is already a duplication of the minimum requirements of IPC-RB-276 or whatever
spec you ask the board(s) to be fab'd to?

Best of luck,

Subject: [TN] Thermal Relief at Ground/Power Plane Connections

Friends over the world,

Is there any problem spelling out "ALL GROUND/POWER PLANE CONNECTIONS SHOULD
HAVE THERMAL RELIEF " on my fab drawings.

Please provide me pros and cons before I make a call.
Your help is greatly appreciated.

ken patel
