I completed a study several months ago to purchase a new reflow oven at a
previous employer. I evaluated the same vendors you are listing and
selected the Electrovert Omniflo.

My main concern was the cooling section and residue collection. The new
ovens have nitrogen capability, and thus the air flow within the oven is
different than previous designs (wether you are running air or nitrogen).
Much of the air(nitrogen) flow within the ovens is now recirculated. This
is done to help reduce cost, especially if you are running Nitrogen. Older
ovens had a fairly high CFM output. The new ovens have a lower CFM output.
As a result, a larger amount of flux residue collects in the oven than
before, requireing increased cleaning. The residue collects in the cooler
parts of the oven. Everyone has put various filters in place to help trap
this residue, but I felt that Electrovert had the best system. They
created a cold spot so that all the residue will collect in one spot, so
cleaning is confined to one area. (I won't go on any more so this does not
sound like a commercial.) WARNING!!!! If the flux residues are not
cleaned from the oven, they will collect and eventually start dripping back
on the board. OOHHH what a yucky mess!!!

In general, I felt that all vendors had good ovens and would probably be
able to do a good job. I gave the edge to Electrovert because of their
Vecta heat system. I also felt that they have a better
Maintenance/Technical assistance phone program than most others. After
having run Electrovert ovens for many years, they are a low maintenance
item, and I have had very few problems. These items were a concern but not
the deciding factor.

Subject: [TN] Forced Air Convection Ovens

We are currently in the process of analyzing Forced Air Convection Oven
systems. The systems in the running are the Electrovert, Vitronics,
Conceptronics, and Seho. Service is a big requirement for us. Our
plant locations are in Dublin, Ireland and Rancho Santa Margarita,
California. Naturally everyone claims to have outstanding service, but
I'd like to hear from the actual users what they feel.

Does anyone out there have any comments (good or bad) or recommendations
(please give reason/s) with regards to service, performance, and
anything else they can think of? They will be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks for the info!!!
