JoAnn,

1mm (0.040") gap from the board edge to conductor
path/pad is typical requirement for multilayer pcb's. For one
or double sided boards, you can get away using 0.5mm gap
without undue mechanical stress to copper layers during
scoring or routing of boards. This min. gap is recommended
to allow some tolerances during board fabrication and
to prevent internal layer mechanical fatigue from
routing/scoring. Please check IPC-D-275, section 5.3.1.4.

We do not use IPC standards here but we use .040" from the
board edge if it's
scored and .020" if it's routed. I personally feel that's
waaaaay too much
real estate to throw away but it wasn't my decision. Anyone
care to help me
get this changed? All help is appreciated.

Happy Holidays! *<():-)>
