Thomas Eriksson ([log in to unmask]) announces a Chat session with topic
"Solder balls / Wave soldering".
The Chat session will be held on 12/3/97, at 16:00 P.M. CET
(Please note the time zone - it might be different from yours)

Thomas Eriksson's comments:
Hi there!

Is there anynone out there in the cyber jungle who have the solution for my solder ball problems?

I´ve got all types of solder balls that you can think of and as they´re my biggest problem i´m very concerned to get rid of them.

Here´s some states:

Machines: SEHO 7000, SEHO 2140 and a Soltec 6522 CC in air machines
Flux used: Alpha SLS 60
Solder used: Boliden/Bergsoe Sn/Pb 63/37
Fluxer: Nozzle
Transportation: Specific paletts for each type of PCB (0,80-1,20 meter/minute)
Type of PCB: Heavy power supply boards
Preheating: We´re trying to reach at least a 100 DEG C on the upper side before soldering but often it´s very hard because of our heavy boards.(big Delta T:s)
Type of preheat: Calrod, mediumlenght-IR radiators and quartz-IR lamps. (380 DEG C - 500 DEG C)
Soldering station: Single wave and Single wave with smart wave
Wetting time: 4-7 seconds
Type of solder masks: Mostly semi-matt (Tamura or Magicure) but we have also matte surface solder masks (Probimer) and as far as i know by now they´re much better.
Enviromental: We dont have controlled relative humiditidy in our production area.

If anyone of you have done any tests regarding this issue and/or if you got some advice please mail them to me or the newsgroup.

Best regards

Thomas Eriksson
