I'm with Mark, scoring of m/l is no problem if done correctly (had to put that in)
The guide I use is as follows:
25% OF THE TOTAL BOARD THICKNESS FOR A WEB
(LESS IF YOU HAVE A SMALL BOARD - MORE FORCE REQUIRED SINCE LESS LEVERAGE)
I USE 30 DEGREE CUTTERS - THEREFORE MINIMAL INTRUSION ON THE REAL-ESTATE OF
THE PCB.
De-paneling tools do work well - RADOLL springs to mind.

My opinion is "If scoring is done correctly - you should have no need for this tool"
Heavy/odd shaped boards are best handled with JUMP/4-axis scoring to the web suggested above.
