I know there was some extensive work done with compliant pins in mother
boards and backplanes. This work was done at the old Naval Air Warfare
Center, Aircraft Division, Indianapolis (now under the direction of Hughes
Aircraft). The following mil standards were used:
     - MIL-STD-2166 compliant pins
     - MIL-C-28859 connectors
     - MIL-STD-2119 design rqmts for mother boards and backplanes
     - MIL-A-28870 fabrication rqmts for above
Hopefully this helps!

Steve
