Dhawan, V-Scoring has come along way. Tab routing is still a good tool
when profiling and radii other than straight lines is required. When
the images are square, V-Scoring is all you need in most cases. Most
good CNC V-Scoring equip is capable of X,Y & Z axis control of +/- .002"
or better.

There are some design situations, where small Surface Mount components
are positioned immediatley adjacent to a score line. In this case where
no torque is tollerable, De-Paneling equipment is available from simple
carbide knives that trace the score line to the "pizza cutter" style.

However, most engineers have but little experience with specifying
proper depth for the score. Most err on the side of being too thick and
cause problems in de-paneling.

For specific help on this topic, feel free to e me with the details.

Mark Simmons, V-Score Central
