Mr. Hillel,

The gold thickness does affect connector reliability. Following factors
are critical and affect choice of gold thickness:

1. Contact force
2. Type of gold, soft or hard
3. Substrate roughness
4. Number of insertions required
5. Connector design, Zero insertion force vs. normal insertion
6. Environmental conditions during use (Corrosion)
7. Gold plating porosity
8. Base Nickel plating porosity

Based on reliability, 30 microinch seems a good choice.
