The only process of which I am aware was used on single sided boards before HASL was commercially viable. Another name for
that process was "hot roll tinning". The machine applied a solder coating to bare copper circuitry by transferring the solder
from a resevoir of molted solder to the surface of the board via a heated roller. The process is similar to roller coating.
The concerns with the process include coating uniformity and hole plugging. (At that time, 0.035" holes were considered
small, and 0.025" holes were seldom used on commercial boards.)
