Thermoplastic substrates have been around for quite a while, e.g. I bought
some boards fabricated using a polyethersulphone laminate over 10 years ago.
Their use generally seems to have been limited to 3D boards and simple high
volume boards, such as game cartridges, which can be injection molded. I
would guess these materials are difficult to fabricate multilayer boards.
Resins such as PES are also expensive so their use has to be justified in
reduced costs elswhere (e.g. eliminating drilling costs).
