Hi Bev - Oops, I didn't mean to imply the using a soldering iron for solder
joint touchup would be a benign, totally safe activity. There have been
numerous studies showing the the potential for assembly damage greatly
increases when a touchup operation is conducted. Operator experience,
soldering iron properties and the type of board material would all come
into play as to the possible damage that could results from a solder joint
touchup operation.

Dave, Sheila,
Although soldering irons can certainly melt the 95/5 solder isn't there
an increased risk of damage to the board because of the application of
the higher temperature to the FR-4?
