Hello Techneters:

The California Circuits Association is sponsoring a "High Performance
Laminates Workshop" October 14 and 15, 1997 in San Jose and Irvine California
respectively. Below is a brief summary of the program. If you would like
more information and or would like to register for the meeting you can
contact Dennis Maggi at 714/730-4586 or proceed to CCA's Web Site at
www.calcircuits.org.

High Performance Laminates:
"What's New in ?"

For a period of 15 years not much was new in base materials. CEM-1 was used
for consumer applications, polyimide was the material of choice for
military/aerospace and FR-4 was utilized for everything else. Today the
market place is much different. There are new materials and material
advances at every step of the supply chain. These new materials are being
developed to address needs identified by a number of industry roadmaps.

From the semiconductor industry comes larger chips running with higher power
and the associated need to eliminate more heat. The automotive industry is
looking for more organic PWB applications under the hood, which also brings
higher heat exposure concerns. New higher temperature resin systems are one
way that these applications can become a reality.

The computer and telecommunications industry bring the market pressure of
reduced size and extremely high density. Plain old FR-4 is no longer
adequate to meet the needs of the new electronic products developed for these
markets. Advances in glass fabrics, alternative constructions and
alternative reinforcements provide new paths for roadblocks in this area.
Improved foils are critical to high-density applications as fine feature
become intolerant of pit, dents and pinholes.

In addition with packaging density growing exponentially, logic speeds
becoming faster and high frequency applications reaching into everyday life,
manufacturers of base materials have stepped up with new technologies to meet
these needs.

This forum will focus on these new technologies form the leaders in base
materials development.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:

Engineers and Technologist involved in the manufacturer of PWBs should
certainly attend this workshop. In addition, since laminate material impacts
fabrication and processes, suppliers to the industry will also greatly
benefit from attending this workshop. OEMs who specify / use PWBs will also
find this workshop of significant value.

TWO CONVENIENT LOCATIONS:

In order to serve all the CCA membership, this workshop will be held in
Northern and Southern California. On Tuesday, October 14, 1997, the workshop
will take place at the Hyatt San Jose Airport, 1740 North First Street, San
Jose, CA. Sleeping rooms can be reserved for $119.00 (single/double) by
calling 408-993-1234. Rooms subject to availability after September 14,
1997. On Wednesday, October 15, 1997, the workshop will take place at the
Hyatt Regency Irvine, 17900 Jamboree Blvd., Irvine, CA. Sleeping rooms can
be reserved for $115.00 (single/double) by calling 714-975-1234. Rooms
subject to availability after September 14, 1997.

COURSE TIMES AND FEES:

The workshop will begin each day with on-site registration at 8:00 a.m. and
will conclude by 5:00 p.m.

The fee for the workshop is $150 for CCA members and $175 for IPC members and
$225 for non-members. This includes morning coffee and afternoon break and a
hosted lunch. Please complete and fax or mail the registration form on the
back of this brochure to CCA at P.O. Box 51146, Irvine, California 92619-1146
or fax to 714-730-4587. Or register through the Calendar of Events button at
CCA's Web site at www.calcircuits.org. For more information on the workshop,
contact Dennis Maggi at 714-730-4586.
