John,
   Just a thought on your last comment.  Unless you have a screaming fast PC
with a water cooled Pentium, your PC will only display single video frames.
 The video monitor should be very useful in setting up your shot since its
image is live.  It will allow you to manage your reflected light better.
 It's also handy for larger group viewing of an item under the scope.
    If you get a good camera and monitor, you may find you like the video
image better than the optical screen image you have now.
