Sounds like a good, practical solution to a problem to me. Since the solution
is probably a 50/50 or 75/25 mixture of IPA/water, there shouldn't be any
problems of corrosion and subsequent cotamination of the mixture with
unwanted ions. Furthermore, since I believe that the 500 SMD uses heated,
agitated solution, you should have sufficient solution flow over the circuit
board or assembly to be able to dissolve/extract the accurate level of ionic
contamination.

Your boss will love you too because you will be able to solve a problem
without a large amount of capital outlay (bosses hate that!).
